Cameron Green Smashes 1,000 IPL Runs as KKR Edge Past GT

Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Cameron Green has reached a major IPL milestone, completing 1,000 runs in the competition. The Australian, signed by KKR for ₹25.20 crore, brought up the mark during KKR’s encounter with Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens, crafting an unbeaten fifty to help his side set up a winning platform.

Green’s 1,000-run milestone

  1. Green scored his second fifty of the season, finishing unbeaten on 52 off 28 deliveries.
  2. His innings included three fours and four sixes, with a strike rate of 185.71.
  3. In IPL work across his stints with Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and now KKR, Green has produced 1,023 runs from 41 matches and 40 innings.
  4. That tally comes at an average of 40.92 and a strike rate of 152.68, featuring one hundred and four fifties.

After a slow start this season, Green’s output has steadied. He has compiled 316 runs in 12 matches, averaging 39.50 and striking at a rate of 150-plus. His season includes two half-centuries, with a highest score of 79. Along with the batting, Green has also contributed with the ball, taking five wickets at an average of 38.00.

Green’s debut IPL campaign came in 2023 with Mumbai Indians. That year, he struck 422 runs in 16 innings at an average of 50.22 and a strike rate of 160.28, including a century and two fifties. He also finished that season with six wickets.

With RCB the following year, Green scored 255 runs across 12 innings, striking at 143.25 and averaging 31.87. His best knock was 46, and he added 10 wickets at an average of 30.30. He delivered several decisive displays during RCB’s remarkable turnaround—after winning only one of their first eight matches, the franchise went on to reach the playoffs, then followed it up with a run of six consecutive wins.

KKR vs GT: innings and key contributions

  1. Gujarat Titans chose to bowl first at Eden Gardens.
  2. Rahane was dismissed early for 14, but Finn Allen exploded with 93 off 35 balls, smashing four boundaries and 10 sixes.
  3. Allen and Angkrish Raghuvanshi built a fast-moving 95-run partnership.
  4. After Allen’s dismissal, Raghuvanshi accelerated further, reaching his fifth fifty of the season.
  5. Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green added 108 runs together, with Green contributing 52 not out off 28 balls (three fours and four sixes).
  6. KKR reached 247/2 at the end of 20 overs.
  7. Raghuvanshi finished unbeaten on 82 off 44 deliveries, striking the ball with four fours and seven sixes.
  8. Mohammed Siraj and Sai Kishore each took a wicket for GT.

During GT’s chase, Sai Sudharsan retired hurt early, impacting the momentum. Shubman Gill, leading the team, made 85 off 49 balls with five fours and seven sixes, while Jos Buttler scored 57 off 35 balls, including five fours and two sixes. Together, Gill and Buttler put on a 128-run stand that kept the chase alive.

However, once that partnership came to an end, GT struggled to maintain the required run-rate. The Titans finished on 218/4 in 20 overs, falling short of the target.

Sunil Narine was the standout performer for KKR, taking 2/29 and earning Player of the Match honours.

In the points table, GT sit in second place with eight wins and five defeats, collecting 16 points. KKR are seventh with five wins, six losses and one no result, with 11 points.
