Mitchell Marsh Ruled Out as LSG Brace for IPL 2026 Clash vs PBKS

Lucknow Super Giants have hit a fresh roadblock before their last league fixture of IPL 2026, with Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh ruled out of their match against Punjab Kings on Saturday evening. Marsh was one of the standout performers for LSG this season, but his availability for the PBKS game has been ruled out, while the underlying cause has not been officially clarified.

Marsh has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Super Giants, who again missed out on a place in the playoffs. The 34-year-old has managed to separate himself from the rest of the batting group with consistent output, finishing as LSG’s leading run-scorer in IPL 2026.

Across 13 innings, Marsh has amassed 563 runs, including two centuries and three half-centuries. By comparison, captain Rishabh Pant is the next highest run-getter for Lucknow, contributing 286 runs from 12 innings—close to half of Marsh’s tally.

While no formal explanation has been provided for Marsh’s absence from the upcoming match, he is expected to play for Australia in a three-match ODI series against Pakistan. That series is scheduled to begin on May 30 in Rawalpindi, placing Marsh’s IPL setback in the context of international commitments.

For Lucknow, the result of the encounter carries added significance even if qualification scenarios remain complicated. A win would let the Super Giants close their IPL 2026 campaign on a more positive note. On the other hand, Punjab Kings would be knocked out of the playoff hunt if they lose.

However, PBKS progress is not guaranteed even in the event of a victory. Qualification for the remaining spots is still in play, with Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals all still capable of finishing in positions that keep their chances alive.
