Mumbai Indians have made two replacement moves ahead of the business end of the IPL season, bringing in Rajasthan allrounder Mahipal Lomror and Saurashtra batter Ruchit Ahir to fill vacancies in their squad. Lomror comes into the XI for the injured Quinton de Kock, while Ahir is drafted in to replace Raj Angad Bawa.
The 26-year-old Lomror is no stranger to IPL pressure, having already turned out in 40 league matches across stints with Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Ahir, 25, meanwhile is set for his first appearance in the competition after previously staying outside the IPL arena. In T20 cricket, he has played 12 matches for Saurashtra, striking 333 runs at an average of 41.62, with a strike rate of 169.03.
De Kock’s absence was confirmed after he picked up a tendon injury in his left wrist ahead of MI’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29. Bawa’s spell also ends early, with the right-thumb ligament tear suffered during MI’s game against Punjab Kings last week.
While MI adjust their squad, Rajasthan Royals have also moved to address their own injury concerns. RR have signed left-arm spinner Emanjot Chahal as the replacement for Ravi Singh, who has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026. Ravi, a wicketkeeper-batter, is sidelined with a hamstring injury, and Chahal will join the Royals for INR 30 lakh.
Ravi had been acquired in the most recent auction for INR 95 lakh and featured in only one match this IPL. On his debut for RR against Delhi Capitals, he batted at number 6 and made 4 runs from 2 deliveries.
Chahal, 21, is a right-hand batter as well as a bowler and represents Punjab in domestic cricket. However, he has yet to play an official senior T20 or one-day match. In first-class cricket, he has accumulated 105 runs across three games, with a highest score of 83, while also taking 11 wickets. He began his first-class career in October 2024, and during the preceding Ranji Trophy season he appeared in just one match.
Rajasthan, currently sitting fourth in the standings, will play their final league fixture on Sunday afternoon at the Wankhede against Mumbai Indians. A win would guarantee RR qualification for the last remaining playoffs spot.
