Vinod Kambli Struggles to Walk at Wankhede During MI’s Last IPL 2026 Game

Vinod Kambli made a rare, emotional public appearance at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium during the Mumbai Indians’ last IPL 2026 match, and a clip of him struggling to walk quickly soon spread across social media. In the video, the former India batter is seen being supported by two people as he moves slowly through the venue.

Quick facts

  • Vinod Kambli appeared at Wankhede Stadium during Mumbai Indians’ final IPL 2026 match.
  • Viral footage showed him moving slowly with support from two individuals.
  • Kambli, 54, looked physically weak but appeared cheerful.
  • His wife Andrea Hewitt rejected reports that his health had significantly worsened.
  • Earlier concerns were linked to a brain clot and memory issues after a hospitalisation in Thane about 18 months ago.
  • Mumbai Indians lost the match by 30 runs to Rajasthan Royals.
  • Rajasthan posted 205 and secured the final playoff spot.
  • Suryaakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya contributed for MI, but they fell short in the chase.

Despite the visible strain, Kambli, now 54, appeared upbeat and in good spirits as fans gathered around the stadium. The sight of him out in public also helped cool some of the worry that had been building online.

His outing gained extra context after his wife, Andrea Hewitt, dismissed talk that his condition had taken a serious turn. She publicly pushed back on claims circulating about his health, insisting that the reports were not grounded in truth.

Health concerns have been part of Kambli’s story in recent years, with reports pointing to serious complications connected to a blood clot in the brain. Earlier this month, his friend Marcus Couto added more detail by saying Kambli had been facing memory problems following a hospital stay.

Memory issues after hospitalisation

Couto said that since Kambli’s hospitalisation in Thane nearly 18 months ago, he has had a clot in his brain. He also claimed that Kambli’s memory isn’t good, explaining that the former cricketer can remember things and then forget them shortly after.

After the viral clips and growing speculation, Andrea again stepped in to address the rumours directly. She said, by God’s grace, Vinod was fine and questioned who was spreading false information about his health.

For many cricket followers, Kambli’s presence at Wankhede brought a wave of relief. During his playing days, he was viewed as one of India’s brightest batting talents, a reputation reinforced by the way he was celebrated alongside childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar.

Kambli went on to represent India in 17 Tests and 104 ODIs. After his career, personal struggles and health issues increasingly shaped his life away from the spotlight, making his brief appearance in the stadium all the more significant.

The match itself did not go Mumbai Indians’ way. Rajasthan Royals secured a comfortable 30-run victory, sealing the final playoff place in the IPL 2026 race.

Chasing a target of 205, MI were unable to get the job done despite contributions from Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya. In the end, Mumbai fell short of Rajasthan’s total, bringing their campaign to a disappointing finish.
