Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) delivered a gripping contest on Wednesday night in IPL 2026, adding fresh fuel to the Orange and Purple Cap races. With the hunt for a top-four finish getting more intense as the season moves along, attention has turned to the players who are setting the pace with bat and ball so far.
Purple Cap leaderboard
Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Ravi Bishnoi leads the Purple Cap charts, having taken seven wickets in just three matches. He has maintained an average of 11.71 while doing the bulk of the damage. Close behind is Prasidh Krishna, the Purple Cap winner from last year, who has climbed to second place thanks to his recent surge. In the match versus DC, he returned figures of 2 for 52 in his four overs, and his early impact was immediate as he took a wicket off his first delivery of the game.
Krishna’s influence stretched beyond that spell as well. He played a key role in helping GT defend a total of 210 in Ahmedabad, delivering when the chase tightened. In the final over with two runs still needed, he slowed the pace with a slower-ball option that did the trick, beating David Miller and triggering a run-out that ultimately swung the result in favour of his side.
After the 14th match of the season, the competition for third place is crowded, with six bowlers tied on five wickets each. Rashid Khan (GT), who struck 3 for 17, joins Lungi Ngidi (DC), whose figures read 1 for 24. The group also includes Vijaykumar Vyshak from Punjab Kings (PBKS), Anshul Kamboj from Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Nandre Burger from RR, and Jacob Duffy from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Orange Cap leaderboard
On the batting front, RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has taken control of the Orange Cap. He produced a blistering unbeaten 77 off only 32 balls in the 11-over-a-side showdown against MI on Tuesday. That innings has carried him to 170 runs in the tournament across three matches, with just one dismissal along the way.
Jaiswal’s explosive effort also moved him ahead of Sameer Rizvi, by ten runs. Rizvi, the DC batter, has started the campaign in impressive fashion with two match-winning knocks and currently sits on 160 runs.
Beyond the leaders, the run-scoring has been spreading quickly. At this stage, eight other batters have already crossed the 100-run mark, with Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Vaibhav Sooryavanshi of RR, and Rohit Sharma of MI rounding out the top five on the leaderboard.
