NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals’ teenage batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi may not have walked out in the IPL 2026 final, but he still ended the campaign as one of the tournament’s standout figures. With Royal Challengers Bengaluru beating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in Ahmedabad on Sunday to retain their crown, Sooryavanshi took centre stage during the post-match presentation, collecting a stack of major individual awards after a record-setting season.
Still, it was his frank admission on the stage that won the biggest reaction. After being named the Most Valuable Player of IPL 2026, the 15-year-old said he felt a little uneasy while addressing the crowd at the ceremony. “It feels good but I feel a bit under pressure having to give the interview,” Sooryavanshi remarked, prompting smiles from those present.

If I have to stay injury free I have to work on my fitness. Everyone is very supportive. All senior players, support staff, everyone backs me and it’s a good atmosphere,” he said.
