Scotland’s Women returned to winning form after a 34-run loss to Bangladesh, beating the Netherlands by 24 runs through the Duckworth–Lewis method in a rain-affected match on Wednesday. Skipper Kathryn Bryce produced a match-defining all-round display, scoring a top innings of 63 and then striking with the ball to help Scotland set and defend a winning target at Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh.
At a glance
- Match result: Scotland Women beat Netherlands Women by 24 runs (DLS)
- Venue: Grange Cricket Club, Edinburgh
- Scotland innings: 124/3 in 12 overs
- Top scorer: Kathryn Bryce 63
- Netherlands chase: 80/6 in 10 overs

Rain pushed back the start, forcing the game into a shortened 12-over contest for each side. The Netherlands chose to field first, and Scotland made an assured start as Katherine Fraser struck a six in the opening over.
However, the momentum was quickly checked when Heather Siegers dismissed Darcey Carter in the very next over. After that early jolt, Bryce took charge, cutting loose with a couple of boundaries off Silver Siegers before Fraser answered in kind, finding similar scoring shots against Isabel van der Woning.
Scotland kept accelerating, with two more scoring hits coming from Bryce as the innings moved beyond the 50-run mark at the start of the sixth over. Caroline de Lange removed Fraser for 29, but Bryce barely allowed any let-up, peppering the boundary with regularity to bring up her half-century off 28 balls.
Sarah Bryce, Kathryn’s sister, provided valuable support at the other end, contributing 23 not out from 12 deliveries. The Bryce duo added 17 runs off Heather in the 10th over to drive Scotland to 110 at that stage.
It was Kathryn Bryce’s dismissal—caught off Iris Zwelling—that ended the sisters’ stand of 58. Scotland then had a brief dry spell of ten balls without a boundary, yet they still finished strongly with a commanding 124 on the board.
Scotland’s bowling turns the screws
With the bat already set, Bryce made sure her impact didn’t stop there. She bowled Phebe Molkenboer in the second over, conceding just three runs as Scotland tightened the early phases of the Netherlands innings.
Heather Siggers struck three fours, but she was eventually dismissed for 15. Bryce again played a decisive part in the fielding, taking a catch to bring the batter’s stay to an end.
Babette de Leede then tried to change the tempo with two sixes off Olivia Bell, while Sterre Kalis found the rope on a couple of occasions in the sixth over after a relatively quieter start. At 59 for 2 after six overs, rain interrupted once more, revising the chase to a target of 105 from ten overs.
Chloe Abel’s return after the resumption proved crucial, as her four-run over included the wicket of de Leede, who was dismissed for 14. That breakthrough firmly shifted the balance toward Scotland.
Kalis was dismissed in the eighth over, and the Netherlands’ chase began to collapse. They ultimately required 30 runs from the final over but could only manage five, with Robine Rijke run out off the penultimate ball sealing the match.
Scotland completed a comfortable win, adding to their bounce-back after the earlier defeat and taking the points in the revised 10-over contest.
