Rossouw Stars as Quetta Rout Rawalpindi to Extend Fifth Straight Defeat

Quetta Gladiators ended a rough patch by cruising to a convincing 61-run victory over Rawalpindiz in PSL 2026, handing the side their fifth consecutive defeat. The match swung in Quetta’s favour after a disciplined batting display, with Rilee Rossouw playing a key role through the middle overs. Once Quetta built a substantial total, their bowlers made sure the chase never gained momentum, dismissing Rawalpindiz for 121 in just 18 overs.

Rawalpindiz, needing 183 to win, struggled to get set from the outset. They lost Mohammad Rizwan on the very first ball, and wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as the innings gradually slipped away. From 76/3, the collapse accelerated—seven wickets were added for only 45 runs, leaving Rawalpindiz well short of the target even though there were brief flashes of resistance.

Saad Masood offered some late entertainment with a quick 31 off 19 balls, but it ultimately wasn’t enough to change the outcome. With the chase effectively over, Quetta’s bowlers kept things tight and took control decisively. Saud Shakeel, Jahandad Khan and Usman Tariq each finished with two wickets, ensuring Rawalpindiz could not recover after the early setbacks.

Earlier in the game, Quetta’s innings had been carefully constructed by Rossouw, who made 53 to anchor the batting effort. Saud Shakeel then complemented him with 42, and together they put on an 87-run partnership for the second wicket—an opening that provided the platform for a strong finish. Hasan Nawaz added impetus at the end, striking 39 off 16 deliveries and landing five sixes to push Quetta further ahead. Jahandad Khan then closed the innings efficiently with an unbeaten 21 off six balls, taking Quetta to 182/6.

Rawalpindiz did manage to create some pressure with the ball, led by Ben Sears, who took three wickets. However, despite those moments, they were unable to prevent Quetta from posting a score that proved beyond reach on the night.

Brief scores: Quetta Gladiators 182/6 in 20 overs (Rilee Rossouw 53, Saud Shakeel 42; Ben Sears 3-41) beat Rawalpindiz 121 all out in 17.3 overs (Saad Masood 31; Saud Shakeel 2-4, Jahandad Khan 2-8, Usman Tariq 2-23) by 61 runs
