Tributes flowed from across India, with leading voices from cricket also joining the condolences, describing the artist as more than a cultural icon—someone who was genuinely loved and respected.

Sachin Tendulkar released an extended tribute, remembering Asha Bhosle as a “family” figure. In his message, he called it a “sad day” for India and for music fans worldwide, adding that for his circle she was “Asha Tai” and that the loss feels impossible to put into words. Tendulkar said that in one moment the heart goes quiet, and in the next it is carried by the countless songs she created for generations. He also wrote that time seems to have paused, but her music will ensure she remains timeless. He concluded by thanking her for bringing warmth, grace, and unforgettable melodies into their lives, saying they will miss her “beyond words.”

Virat Kohli also shared his condolences, writing: “Rest in peace, Asha Bhosle Ji. Your voice touched millions and will live on forever in our hearts. Om Shanti.”

Other cricket figures joined the grief as well. Gautam Gambhir expressed his sorrow, saying he was saddened by the passing of the legendary singer and that her elegance and unmatched talent will always stay in people’s memories. Rajeev Shukla, the vice-president of the BCCI, also conveyed his condolences.

As per the family’s information, Asha Bhosle died at Breach Candy Hospital after suffering multi-organ failure. She had been taken to hospital following exhaustion and a chest infection, and her son Anand Bhosle confirmed the news.

Fans and well-wishers will be able to pay their last respects at her home in Lower Parel, with the final rites scheduled later at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.
