With municipal corporation elections scheduled in Ahmedabad and other areas of Gujarat on April 26, the BCCI has made a change to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 fixture list. The adjustment involves swapping the matches between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 26 and May 21, affecting both venues and starting times.
As a result, the daytime encounter between GT and CSK—originally planned to be played in Ahmedabad on April 26—will now take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The match is set to begin at 3:30 pm IST.
Consequently, the return game between CSK and GT, which had been scheduled for the evening of May 21 in Ahmedabad, has been moved to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. That fixture will start at 7:30 pm IST.
In its official communication, the IPL stated: “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces a revision in the schedule of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.”
The statement further confirmed: “The afternoon fixture between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, originally scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on April 26, 2026, will now be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, with the match starting at 3:30 pm IST.”
It also added: “Accordingly, the reverse fixture between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, scheduled to be played on May 21, 2026, in the evening, will now be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, with the match set to begin at 7:30 pm IST.”
On the points table, GT are currently placed fifth, having won two matches and lost two—giving them four points. They came off a win in their most recent outing, beating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow on Sunday.
CSK, meanwhile, halted a run of three consecutive defeats with a strong performance at home. They recorded a 23-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Chepauk Stadium on Saturday.
