NEW DELHI: Gujarat Titans kept their IPL 2026 revival on track on Friday, cruising to a five-wicket victory over a struggling Kolkata Knight Riders side at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After opening the season with two straight defeats, Gujarat have now strung together three consecutive wins, moving up to fourth place in the standings with six points from their first five matches.
KKR, meanwhile, endured their fifth loss of IPL 2026 and continue to sit at the foot of the table. The Knight Riders have managed only one point so far, which came from an earlier rain-hit no result against table-toppers Punjab Kings. Led by Ajinkya Rahane, KKR are also the only team yet to taste a win across 25 matches in the competition.
Gujarat’s chase was well paced as they chased down KKR’s 181-run target with two balls remaining. The successful run chase also brought a meaningful boost to their numbers, with their net run rate improving to +0.018 from -0.029 under Shubman Gill’s captaincy—an incremental rise that could prove crucial over the coming weeks.
The positions at the top of the IPL 2026 table remained the same after the match. Punjab Kings led the standings with nine points from five games. Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals followed closely, with both franchises on eight points—while RCB occupied second place due to a superior net run rate.
In the middle of the table, the race remains tightly contested, with four teams separated by narrow margins on four points apiece. Sunrisers Hyderabad sit in fifth spot on better net run rate, and are followed by Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings—all tied on points at this stage.
At the other end, Mumbai Indians are placed ninth with two points from five encounters, while Kolkata Knight Riders remain anchored at the bottom of the table.
