Shaheen Afridi’s fiery outburst: bat smash caught on camera in Karachi PSL

A clip from the National Stadium in Karachi taken moments after Lahore Qalandars’ PSL 2026 match against Quetta Gladiators has quickly gone viral. In the footage, Lahore captain Shaheen Afridi can be seen striking his bat in frustration after getting out, a dramatic outburst that framed a night Lahore ultimately lost by six wickets.

What happened in Karachi

  1. Lahore Qalandars were bowled out for 134 in 19.5 overs, leaving themselves with a total that proved difficult to defend.
  2. Quetta Gladiators chased down the target successfully in 16.2 overs, turning Lahore’s collapse into a straightforward finish.
  3. Shaheen arrived at the crease with Lahore already under pressure and was dismissed soon after, falling to Usman Tariq.
  4. Soon after his dismissal, broadcast and social media clips captured Shaheen venting his anger on his way back, including a bat-smash near the boundary-side structures and the staircase area.
  5. Lahore’s batting never truly recovered: early wickets knocked them off course, and Quetta’s bowlers kept applying pressure through the middle overs.
  6. Abdullah Shafique and Shaheen Afridi were both removed in the same general phase, as Lahore’s lower order was forced to repair the innings too early once again.
  7. Usama Mir attempted a late recovery, scoring 22 off seven balls, lifting the total to 134, but the damage was already done by the time the innings ended.
  8. Quetta’s chase was anchored by Rilee Rossouw, who remained unbeaten on 60 off 49 deliveries, while Hasan Nawaz contributed 49 off 32.
  9. After Quetta had lost two wickets in the powerplay, the 104-run partnership between Rossouw and Nawaz shifted the game firmly in Quetta’s favour and reduced the chase to control rather than contest.

The bat-smash, then, was not simply about one dismissal—it was the visible reaction of a captain whose side has been struggling for consistency. Lahore have now dropped three matches in a row, and after six games they sit with just two victories and four defeats. With the bat still failing to deliver stability, the frustration shown by Shaheen reflects a wider problem: Lahore are not only losing games at the moment, they are beginning to look like a team carrying the weight of each collapse into the next.
