Priyansh Arya smashes 93 off 37, helps Punjab post 254/7 vs LSG

NEW DELHI: Priyansh Arya’s batting has become synonymous with clearing the boundary, and the latest proof came in the IPL 2026 showdown against Lucknow Super Giants. The star youngster fired a ruthless 93 off only 37 balls, driving Punjab Kings to a huge 254/7. Arya’s charge was ably backed by left-hander Cooper Connolly, who slammed 87 from 46 deliveries as the innings built into a season-defining total.

In front of a packed Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, PBKS held their nerve after posting their standout score, limiting LSG to 200/5. The victory kept Punjab Kings in the pole position of the standings, while Lucknow suffered their third consecutive loss and slipped to eighth place.

From the first overs, Arya attacked the LSG bowlers with relentless intent. He raced to his fifty off just 19 balls, peppering the field with powerful shots and showing little respect for length or pace as the scoring rate climbed steadily.

As his innings rolled on, Arya also crossed a franchise benchmark held by KL Rahul for the most fifties made in fewer than 20 deliveries. His 93 arrived at a strike rate of 251.35, and he looked on course for a well-earned century before finishing short by seven runs. Arya was caught at long-off, with Mitchell Marsh taking the catch off Manimaran Siddharth.

For his explosive knock, Arya earned the Player of the Match award. He now boasts three separate half-century knocks in under 20 balls, including a 19-ball fifty against Lucknow Super Giants earlier this season, a 16-ball effort versus Sunrisers Hyderabad, and another 19-ball fifty against Chennai Super Kings last season.

Rahul’s comparable timeline includes a 14-ball half-century against Delhi Capitals in 2018 and a 19-ball fifty against Chennai Super Kings in 2019.

Across five matches for Punjab Kings this season, Arya has piled up 211 runs at an average of 42.20, striking at 248.23, with two scores of fifty or more. His power numbers are equally eye-catching: 14 fours and 20 sixes so far.

Looking at the bigger picture, in 22 IPL appearances for Punjab Kings, Arya has amassed 686 runs at 31.18 with a strike rate of 196.00. His overall tally includes one century and four half-centuries.
