NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli is once again rewriting IPL benchmarks, adding another rare mark to his ever-growing record during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s meeting with Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026. The batting icon became the first player in league history to reach 800 fours, a milestone that further underlines his status as one of the tournament’s most dominant run-makers.
Kohli’s innings started in the toughest possible way, getting out for a duck after being hit on zero in the first over by Mohammed Siraj. But he was already on 799 boundaries at that point, and once he got going, he pushed himself over the line in emphatic fashion—hitting Kagiso Rabada to the long-on boundary to seal the 800th four of his IPL career.
Since launching his IPL journey in 2008, Kohli has turned out for RCB across 274 matches. In that time, he has amassed 8,915 runs at an average of 39.79, including 65 half-centuries and eight hundreds, with the latest number bringing his tally to a record 800 fours.
Shikhar Dhawan sits next in the list of players with the most fours. The left-hander has played for several franchises—Delhi Capitals, Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad—and has 768 fours in 222 matches, scoring 6,769 runs in total.
Australia’s David Warner follows with 663 fours from 184 appearances. Across those games, he has accumulated 6,565 runs, maintaining an impressive average of 40.52 for his IPL career.
Rohit Sharma, who has appeared for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians, has played 276 matches and has 653 fours to his name, with 7,183 runs in the tournament.
Ajinkya Rahane rounds out the next tier as he has represented multiple teams, including CSK, DC, KKR, MI, RPS and RR. Rahane has registered 522 fours from 205 matches.
Chennai Super Kings stalwart Suresh Raina has put up 506 fours across 205 outings, scoring 5,528 runs. Gautam Gambhir has also crossed the 400-fours mark, collecting 492 boundaries in 154 matches for Delhi and KKR.
Robin Uthappa has 481 fours in 205 matches, while KL Rahul has struck 472 fours in 151 games. Suryakumar Yadav completes the elite group with 471 fours from 173 matches.
