Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stuns with helicopter shot in RR net session before SRH clash

A video posted by Rajasthan Royals has set social media abuzz, capturing teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi unleashing a breathtaking helicopter shot during a net session in Jaipur. The clip spread rapidly across platforms, adding to the excitement around the 15-year-old’s rapid rise in the IPL.

In IPL 2026, Sooryavanshi has continued to stand out as one of RR’s most impactful performers. His momentum follows a remarkable breakthrough in 2025, when he became both the youngest debutant and the youngest centurion in IPL history. This season, he has carried the same fearless, high-tempo intent, consistently looking to force the game rather than waiting for openings.

Most recently, Sooryavanshi reached a major batting milestone in record speed. He became the fastest player to 500 IPL runs, doing so after facing just 227 deliveries. In the process, he surpassed the previous benchmark of 260 balls set by Glenn Maxwell.

That surge, however, came with a rare moment of difficulty in his latest appearance. On April 22, against Lucknow Super Giants, Sooryavanshi was dismissed for 8 runs. It also marked another first for the youngster: it was his maiden IPL over, delivered by Mohsin Khan.

RR shared the net-session footage along with a playful caption: “Trust a Bihari to hit a helicopter shot,” which sparked plenty of chatter among fans. The helicopter shot, made iconic in modern times by MS Dhoni—who is from Jharkhand, a region that was part of Bihar earlier—has become a signature stroke in T20 cricket. The Royals’ caption effectively drew a tongue-in-cheek link between Sooryavanshi’s background and Dhoni’s celebrated legacy.
