David Warner has responded to a supporter who urged him to step away from the Pakistan Super League and return to the Indian Premier League, after Karachi Kings were eliminated ahead of the PSL 11 playoffs. Warner shared his thoughts on Instagram once the tournament wrapped up, reflecting on how his side went about their campaign.
In his post, the former Australia opener praised Karachi Kings for the “passion, resilience, and attitude” they displayed throughout the season. He acknowledged that the team could not end the run on a high note, but he still highlighted the effort and mindset shown by the group. Warner also stressed that franchise cricket cannot be fully understood unless someone is embedded in that day-to-day environment.
Warner further thanked fans for their “unwavering support” and also expressed appreciation for the PSL organisers, pointing to the hospitality they extended during the competition. Toward the close of his caption, the opener added a playful suggestion that future editions could add more off-field activities, mentioning padel and golf, while also stating that he hopes the coming seasons bring back full crowds in stadiums.
The conversation took a direct turn when one follower replied to Warner’s post and told him to leave PSL and come back to IPL, arguing that the latter would suit him better. “It’s better for you to quit PSL and return back in IPL,” the fan wrote.
Warner answered briefly but clearly, making it known he was not considering such a change. “No need for that now,” he replied.
Karachi Kings, the 2020 champions, were knocked out of PSL 11 after Lahore Qalandars defeated Peshawar Zalmi in the 38th match of the tournament. It marked the fourth time Karachi have missed the playoffs since the league began in 2016, and they also failed to reach the top four in three consecutive seasons from 2022 through 2024.
