Sunrisers Hyderabad continued their rise in IPL 2026 with a remarkable six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, completing a historic chase of 244. The result extended SRH’s winning run to five matches in a row and helped them leap into third place in the points table.
Match fallout and points shake-up
With the victory, SRH collected 12 points from nine games and moved ahead of Rajasthan Royals on net run rate, even though both sides are level on points. Despite this jump, the Hyderabad franchise still sits behind defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who remain second with 12 points from eight matches and a better NRR.
Punjab Kings, meanwhile, continue to top the standings with 13 points from eight encounters, maintaining their position at the summit as the competition enters a more decisive phase.
For Mumbai Indians, the loss was their sixth defeat in eight games this season. MI are positioned ninth in a ten-team league table, only above Lucknow Super Giants on net run rate, with both teams on four points. Even after setting a challenging total earlier in the day, Mumbai once again struggled to defend it, highlighting inconsistency that has shaped their campaign so far.
Outside the SRH and Rajasthan swap, the rest of the table largely stayed the same: Gujarat Titans are fifth with eight points, followed by Chennai Super Kings in sixth with six points. Delhi Capitals occupy seventh place, also on six points, while Kolkata Knight Riders are eighth with five.
League phase turns tense
As the league stage heads into its crucial stretch, SRH’s strong form has added fresh momentum to their playoff push. Mumbai Indians, conversely, face an uphill climb to revive their season in the remaining fixtures.
