Vinod Kambli Spotted at Wankhede After IPL 2026, Fans Pray for Recovery

NEW DELHI: Former India batter Vinod Kambli, who has been battling health concerns and has reportedly found it difficult to walk, was seen outside the Wankhede Stadium after the IPL 2026 match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. The 1990s star was photographed as he made his way with the assistance of two men, with media personnel capturing the moment as he stepped out from the venue.

As news of his presence spread, fans and members of the press gathered outside the stadium to catch a glimpse of the former India cricketer, who played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for the national team between 1991 and 2000. In one clip that quickly circulated online, supporters could be heard urging him to recover soon, saying, “get well soon, sir.” Kambli acknowledged the well-wishes with a smile and a thumbs-up gesture.

On the field, Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a chase built on momentum, with Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen striking aggressive half-centuries to deliver a six-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians. Head set the tone for Hyderabad’s run chase of 249/4, smashing 76 off just 30 balls and laying the foundation for a rapid pursuit that looked in control even as the required rate rose. Klaasen then took charge at the finish, remaining unbeaten on 65 from 30 deliveries, striking seven fours and four sixes to see the chase home.

Hyderabad’s success also came despite a standout effort from Mumbai’s Ryan Rickelton. The left-handed opener struck an unbeaten 123 off 55 balls, a knock that had earlier helped Mumbai Indians post 243/5. Rickelton’s innings included a franchise milestone as well, with the opener recording the fastest-ever century for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, reaching the hundred in 44 balls.

With the win, Sunrisers Hyderabad moved up to third place in the points table, collecting 12 points. Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, remained in ninth position after a tough stretch at Wankhede this season, having lost four of their five home matches and still managing only two wins from eight games.
