NEW DELHI: Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Heinrich Klaasen lost his temper during an encounter with a supporter who was trying to photograph him along with his family. Klaasen, who stepped away from international cricket in June last year, has been in strong touch for SRH in IPL 2026. The incident reportedly happened while he was travelling with his loved ones ahead of the team’s next fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
A widely shared clip on social media shows Klaasen speaking firmly to the fan attempting to click pictures. “Listen to me carefully. Don’t do it, okay? I told you NO. Please leave,” Klaasen is heard saying. He then adds: “Don’t take a photo. If I turn around and you take a photo of me and my family, I promise you will be on the floor. Okay? So turn around and walk away, please. Listen to me carefully. Stop it. No photo. This is my family. Put the camera away.”
The outburst is not the first time an IPL cricketer has had to deal with supporters seeking photos without permission. SRH wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan recently faced a similar situation when a fan approached him for a selfie. Ishan refused politely, but the supporter did not take the hint. The moment left Ishan visibly annoyed, yet he responded in a calm tone: “No ka matlab no hota hai, sir.”
More recently, SRH opener Abhishek Sharma was also approached by a fan requesting a picture, with a girl reportedly pulling him by the hand. Abhishek appeared surprised but kept his composure, then walked away without turning it into a confrontation.
Before the start of the IPL, former India captain Rohit Sharma encountered a parallel episode. The incident occurred while Rohit was seated inside his car and interacting with supporters who had gathered nearby. He waved to the crowd and even offered his hand to greet them. However, after one fan shook his hand, that supporter tried to pull Rohit’s arm out for a selfie. Rohit, visibly upset, immediately withdrew his hand, issued a stern warning, and rolled up the car window.
