Delhi Capitals fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has received a formal warning from the BCCI after an intense on-field celebration following his dismissal of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during Friday night’s IPL match. The moment quickly stood out in an otherwise fiercely contested game, with most of the focus landing on how the wicket was celebrated rather than the breakthrough itself.
Sooryavanshi, who has been a key bright spot for Rajasthan Royals this season thanks to a string of fearless innings, had a rare off night in Jaipur. The teenager was dismissed for just four runs in the second over. He looked settled from the outset, punching a boundary off the first delivery he faced from Jamieson, before the bowler struck back immediately.
Jamieson removed him on the very next ball with a fuller delivery that brought an early end to Sooryavanshi’s stay. After the wicket, Jamieson celebrated strongly in close proximity to the youngster. Sooryavanshi, though, did not respond, walking away with a visibly disappointed expression.
The BCCI reviewed the incident and handed Jamieson a warning along with one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials, reinforcing the tournament’s expectation of discipline during play.
In its statement, the BCCI said Jamieson was in breach of Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which covers “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the match.”
The board further explained that the incident took place in the second over of the first innings. It added that after dismissing Sooryavanshi, Jamieson was found to be close to him in an aggressive manner, a situation that could have triggered an aggressive response from the batter.
Jamieson accepted the outcome, admitting the offence and taking the sanction given by the Match Referee, Rajeev Seth.
Rajasthan Royals suffer another loss in Jaipur
Rajasthan Royals also faced yet another defeat on home turf as KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka combined to overshadow Riyan Parag’s determined effort. Parag played with conviction, scoring a well-made 90 off 50 balls and helping Rajasthan post 225 for six. Even so, the target proved beyond their reach as Delhi chased with control and purpose.
Rahul led the pursuit with a commanding 75, while Nissanka contributed a quick 62 to give Delhi early momentum. The duo’s stand kept the required run rate steady throughout the chase, enabling Delhi to reach 226 for three and secure a crucial seven-wicket win.
