During the toss segment, Morrison addressed Gill directly with the line: “Still, Shubhers, there are no wedding bells around the corner? Anything that we need to know about.” Gill’s response was immediate and firm: “No. No. Nothing.” Morrison then quickly added, “Good to see you,” before turning his attention elsewhere.

When asked about the pitch, Gill replied that early on there is typically something available for bowlers, especially on a wicket of that nature, and that they would see how conditions evolve. On the team’s progress in the season, he said it is about timing—highlighting that in a competition like the IPL, which runs for a long stretch, the key is to peak at the right moment—and suggested that the best version of Gujarat Titans might still be ahead.
Gill also confirmed there was no further reshuffle beyond the debut: “One change – Nishant Sindhu makes his debut,” he said at the toss.
