KL Rahul Makes IPL History, Hits 1,000 Runs for Third Franchise

KL Rahul has etched his name into IPL history by becoming the first player to reach the 1,000-run mark for three separate franchises in the league. He achieved the milestone during Delhi Capitals’ match against Kolkata Knight Riders, where he struck 23 off 14 deliveries, including four boundaries and a strike rate of 164.28.

Rahul also became the 11th batter to score 1,000 runs for Delhi Capitals. In his 24 innings for the franchise, he has accumulated 1,007 runs at an average of 50.35 and a strike rate of 162.41. His DC tally includes two centuries and six fifties, with an unbeaten highest score of 152*. The 24-innings turnaround is the fastest by any batter to hit 1,000 runs for the side, shaving time off the earlier records of JP Duminy and Rishabh Pant, who both needed 35 innings.

This season, Rahul is Delhi’s leading run-scorer and currently sits as the overall third-highest run-getter with 468 runs from 11 innings. He has made those runs at an average of 46.80 and a strike rate of 180.00, featuring one century and three fifties, with his top score again standing at 152*.

Rahul had already crossed 1,000 runs for Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants earlier in his IPL journey. For Punjab Kings, he is the franchise’s leading scorer, amassing 2,548 runs across 55 matches, with an average of 56.62 and a strike rate of 139.76. That includes two centuries and 23 fifties. With Lucknow Super Giants, he ranks as the second-highest run-scorer, having collected 1,410 runs in 38 matches, at an average of 41.47 and a strike rate of 130.67, including two centuries and 10 fifties.

Rahul has also turned out for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, though he did not reach four figures of runs for either franchise. For SRH, he made 308 runs in 20 matches, with a best score of 46. For RCB, he scored 417 runs in 19 matches, delivering four fifties in 14 innings.

In the same Delhi Capitals versus KKR contest, Finn Allen played the starring role for the visitors, smashing a 47-ball century that carried Kolkata Knight Riders to a convincing eight-wicket victory. The win marked KKR’s fourth consecutive triumph in the IPL on Friday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Allen’s unbeaten 100 off 47 balls powered KKR to chase down the target of 143, as they finished with eight wickets in hand and 34 balls remaining. His knock featured 10 sixes and five boundaries, and he received important support from Cameron Green, who contributed an unbeaten 33 from 27 deliveries.
