Rohit Sharma remains one of cricket’s most recognisable faces worldwide, and his fan following has a habit of turning every public moment into something memorable. That was certainly the case when a woman supporter, overwhelmed by the sight of the former India captain, started out with the simple plan of getting a quick selfie. What followed, however, turned into an awkward scramble that left even Rohit seemingly struggling to find the right words. The clip from the interaction was shared on social media by the Mumbai Indians’ official account and quickly became one of the most talked-about videos online.
The footage begins with the fan reacting with visible excitement as soon as she notices Rohit. Almost instantly, she pulls out her phone to capture a picture with the Mumbai Indians batter. During the selfie attempt, she tells him, “Aap best ho,” meaning “You are the best,” as the two pose for the camera.
But the moment takes a sudden twist when her phone fails to cooperate—its battery dies right as she tries to take the shot. She then explains the problem, saying, “Mera phone off ho gaya,” which translates to “My mobile phone switched off.”
With her selfie plan derailed, she begins asking people around her for another phone so she can still take a picture with Rohit. While that chaotic search is going on, Rohit moves ahead to board the team bus. From behind, the supporter calls out loudly, prompting Rohit to appear irritated by the interruption.
As the noise continues, Rohit reacts with disbelief at the situation, asking, “Toh abhi main kya karu phir?”—essentially, “So what should I do then?”
Eventually, the fan manages to get hold of someone else’s device and takes a photo with Rohit. That selfie, though, only comes after Rohit urges her to wrap it up and get it done. He says, “Aap jaldi karo bhai,” meaning “Please do it quickly.”
The supporter then repeatedly apologises and asks for another chance, saying “please” and “sorry” multiple times before she finally succeeds in getting the picture. The entire exchange, from the battery failure to the final successful click, is what made the clip so entertaining for viewers.
Rohit strikes form after hamstring layoff
On the field, Rohit returned to action after missing five IPL 2026 matches for the Mumbai Indians because of a hamstring injury. His comeback came in the most recent game against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium.
In that match, the right-handed batter produced an 84-run innings off 44 balls. His knock included six fours and seven sixes, a display of power and intent that helped shape the chase.
With Rohit’s innings driving momentum, Mumbai Indians successfully chased down a target of 229. They reached the mark with six wickets in hand and still had 10 balls remaining in the game.
Even with the win, the five-time champions remain on the edge of the playoff picture and are nearly out of contention. Their ceiling stands at a maximum of 14 points, even if they win all of their remaining fixtures.
Next, Mumbai Indians are set to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday, May 10. The match will be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur.
