Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has developed a reputation for taking on seasoned bowlers without much hesitation in IPL 2026. The 15-year-old has already struck boundaries off the likes of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Jasprit Bumrah, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. On Saturday, it was Kagiso Rabada’s and Mohammed Siraj’s turn to feel the impact—at least for a time—when Rajasthan Royals chased 230 against Gujarat Titans.
In the opening over of Rajasthan’s chase, Sooryavanshi punished Siraj immediately. He launched a six off the very first ball Siraj delivered. The momentum didn’t fade; in the next over, Sooryavanshi added two more maximums off Rabada. Then, in the third over, he struck Siraj for three fours before finally being dismissed by the same bowler.
Sooryavanshi ended with 36 runs from 16 balls, including three sixes and three fours. Yet the contest wasn’t only about Sooryavanshi finding the fence—Siraj also had a moment that swung the battle back in his favour.
After being struck for a six, Sooryavanshi faced a yorker that pinned him to the crease. The batter then sent the ball onto his own boot and immediately looked in significant pain. The impact landed near the ankle area of his right leg, prompting the physio to come out right away. Even so, Sooryavanshi stayed on and continued batting, though he was visibly hampered at the start.
Siraj, meanwhile, showcased a full range of skills to secure the wicket—first by trapping him with pace and accuracy, and then by using variations that forced errors. The confrontation underlined how quickly a T20 spell can turn when bat meets ball.
Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scripted history in men’s T20 cricket by breaking multiple records. He became the quickest and youngest player to reach 100 sixes, doing so in just 29 innings. He also set the pace for the milestone in terms of deliveries, reaching the landmark in only 514 balls.
Sooryavanshi achieved the record during Rajasthan’s IPL clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Jaipur on Saturday night. Against Mohammed Siraj, he began with aggression, clearing long-on with a huge six on the first ball he faced.
He kept attacking through the powerplay and raced to 36 off 16 deliveries, striking three fours and three sixes in a rapid cameo at the top of the order. Still, Siraj eventually found his answer and took the final word in an entertaining head-to-head.
Sooryavanshi has also been Rajasthan’s leading run-getter in the 2026 IPL season. He has scored 440 runs in 11 innings at an average of 40.00, with a strike rate of 236.55. His season haul includes one century and two half-centuries.
Turning to the match itself, Gujarat Titans posted a commanding total of 229/4 in 20 overs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday. The foundation came from fluent fifties by captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, followed by a late surge from Washington Sundar.
Gujarat were put in to bat by Rajasthan’s stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was operating in place of the injured Riyan Parag. The Titans built their innings to a 200-plus score through fifties from Gill (84 off 44 balls) and Sudharsan (55 off 36 balls), then added a finishing touch with Sundar’s cameo of 37* off 20 deliveries.
