Gill’s Viral Warning as Gujarat Titans Crush SRH by 82 Runs and Top IPL 2026

Gujarat Titans produced a dominant all-round performance to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, moving to the summit of the Indian Premier League 2026 points table in the process. After a strong batting display that carried them to 168 for seven, the Titans then dismantled SRH’s chase with the ball to register their fifth straight win.

Gujarat’s innings sets a tough target

Batting first, Gujarat Titans built their innings around two half-centuries. Sai Sudharsan struck a gritty 61 off 44 balls, while Washington Sundar added 50 to help the team reach 168 for seven.

  • Sai Sudharsan made 61 (44 balls) featuring five fours and two sixes.
  • Washington Sundar contributed 50, supporting the late momentum after the early foundation.
  • Gujarat finished on 168 for seven, giving SRH a chase of 169.

Rabada and Holder strike as SRH collapse

When SRH went in to chase 169, Gujarat’s bowling quickly took control. Kagiso Rabada led the breakthrough with a three-wicket haul, and Jason Holder also struck repeatedly to ensure SRH never gained traction.

  • Kagiso Rabada: 3/28 to rip through Sunrisers Hyderabad’s top order and middle overs.
  • Jason Holder: 3/20 as SRH’s batting line-up kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
  • SRH were dismissed for 86 in 14.5 overs, falling 82 runs short of the target.

Shubman Gill’s post-match thoughts

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill looked pleased during the post-match presentation and credited the team’s approach to batting first and then executing with the ball.

Gill said, “Teams batting first… worked out for us nicely. We bowled very well. We knew if we bowled well, we would always be in the game. We spoke about if we get anywhere near 160–170, it will not be easy for them with our bowling attack.”

He also singled out Sudharsan’s role in setting the tone. “Sai Sudharsan struck a dogged half-century to give Gujarat Titans a solid start,” Gill noted, highlighting how the opener’s 61 off 44 balls helped Gujarat get close to the 170 mark.

On Washington Sundar’s knock, Gill added that it was crucial on a surface where batting required patience and application. “Washington’s 33-ball 50 with seven fours and a six was instrumental in adding crucial late runs,” he said.

Gill further praised the bowlers for their powerplay impact and the side’s ability to stay adaptable. “The way Sai and Washy batted, getting us close to 170, and then the way we bowled in the powerplay, kudos to both of our bowlers. It is all about being consistent and being ruthless. We are not a team who play a particular style and brand, and assess the conditions (and play according to it).”

Commenting on Holder’s impact, Gill said the bowler has brought balance and control. “He is such an experienced campaigner. He has been relentless for us, bowling four on the trot and he is doing a terrific job for us,” Gill remarked.

Next up for Gujarat

Gujarat Titans will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, looking to extend their winning momentum after their emphatic win over SRH.
