Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have secured Karnataka allrounder Macneil Noronha for the IPL 2026 season, bringing him in as cover for the injured Ramakrishna Ghosh. Noronha will link up with the franchise for his base price of INR 30 lakh.
Noronha recently received the MA Chidambaram Trophy at the annual Naman Awards conducted by the BCCI, recognising him as the leading run-scorer in the 2024-25 Col CK Nayudu Trophy. He also played a decisive role in the Mangaluru Dragons’ title-winning campaign in 2025, where he amassed 253 runs from 10 innings and contributed with the ball by taking 10 wickets through his offspin. In domestic T20 action, he represented Karnataka in three matches during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, registering 58 runs and taking one wicket.
CSK moved for Noronha after Ghosh suffered a fractured foot during his IPL debut against Mumbai Indians on May 2. Noronha’s only appearance in the tournament saw him return figures of 1 for 24.
Injuries have been a recurring issue for CSK this season, with Ayush Mhatre, Nathan Ellis and Khaleel Ahmed all sidelined during the campaign. The side has also been without MS Dhoni so far, with the former captain currently nursing a calf strain.
CSK sit fifth in the points table, having collected 12 points from 11 matches. Their next assignment is against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday.
