Lucknow Super Giants chief Sanjiv Goenka has lavished praise on 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after the teenager earned a spot in the India A squad for a tri-nation 50-over competition in Sri Lanka. The selection comes on the back of a standout IPL campaign, where Sooryavanshi’s steady performances have drawn the attention of selectors and reignited calls from cricket observers for his quicker transition into the senior national set-up.
Goenka hails a rapid rise
Goenka pointed to the scale of Sooryavanshi’s progress, noting how quickly the youngster has moved through major milestones. From his IPL debut last year to starring on the biggest stage at the U19 World Cup, the LSG owner described the journey as exceptional and deserving of recognition.
In a post on X, Goenka wrote that the India A call-up should be celebrated for many reasons, highlighting that the biggest one is “how far this young man has come in such a short time.” He referenced Sooryavanshi’s path from his debut in the IPL to scoring 175 in the U19 World Cup final and being named Player of the Tournament.
Goenka also underlined what he believes has defined Sooryavanshi’s development in the past year—talent, bravery, and the hunger to keep improving.
LSG batter Ayush Badoni also named
Along with praising Sooryavanshi, Goenka expressed delight at another Lucknow connection in the squad. Ayush Badoni’s inclusion was also celebrated, with the LSG owner sending congratulations to both players and backing them to make India proud.
IPL form and India A tri-series schedule
Sooryavanshi has continued to shine in the ongoing IPL season, maintaining impressive consistency across matches. In 11 games, he has amassed 440 runs and has blended attacking intent with a level of composure that has stood out for a teenager.
His run has included a standout century and two rapid half-centuries, reinforcing his growing reputation as one of the most exciting young prospects in the competition.
