England all-rounder Jamie Overton has confirmed that his Indian Premier League run with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been ended early because of injuries. He recently produced a standout spell that earned him Player of the Match honours, finishing with figures of 3/36 in CSK’s previous outing. That performance came in a five-wicket win over Lucknow at Chepauk on May 11.
With the bat, Overton has also provided valuable contributions from lower down the order. He has scored 143 runs across six innings, averaging 34.00 and striking at 158.13, with a best score of 43 not out.
Forrester steps in for the injured Overton
Dian Forrester, the replacement for CSK, is a right-arm pace bowling all-rounder. In T20 cricket, he has amassed 681 runs across 36 matches and 33 innings, striking at better than 140 with an average of 35.84, including two fifties.
Forrester has also contributed with the ball, taking 11 wickets at an average of 30.27. His best bowling return in T20s is 3/30.

Despite the blow of losing Overton, CSK remain in the running. They sit fifth in the points table with six wins and five defeats, and their path to the top four remains open.
