Anshul Kamboj Shatters Six-Tally Record as CSK Face Gujarat in IPL 2026

Chennai Super Kings pacer Anshul Kamboj has found himself at the centre of an unwanted Indian Premier League milestone in the 2026 season. The right-arm speedster conceded 34 sixes, the highest tally by any bowler across a single IPL edition, surpassing the previous mark of 33 struck against Rashid Khan in 2025. Kamboj reached this dubious number during CSK’s IPL 2026 match against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on Thursday, where his bowling was repeatedly punished in the deep.

While Kamboj’s record-setting run of hits came against GT, his broader tournament story has been a mixed one. He began IPL 2026 with promise for Chennai, but his recent performances have dipped sharply, with costly overs proving damaging for the team’s cause. The latest evidence of that slide arrived in CSK’s 12th league game against Lucknow Super Giants, where he endured a brutal spell and was hit for eight sixes—the most any bowler has conceded in a single IPL match. During that innings, the hitting pattern also featured two separate streaks where he gave away four consecutive maximums, underlining how quickly the contest slipped away once the batters found rhythm.

In Thursday’s encounter, Gujarat Titans put themselves in control with a batting display built around a big partnership. A century stand between captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan laid the foundation, while Jos Buttler added a sharp half-century to keep the tempo high. By the end of 20 overs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, GT had posted 229/4 against Chennai Super Kings.

With that total on the board, CSK were set a target of 230 runs as they looked to stay in the hunt for a place in the playoffs.
