Axar Patel scripted a landmark moment in the IPL on Tuesday, becoming only the second cricketer to reach the 100-match mark for the Delhi Capitals franchise. The milestone arrived during the Capitals’ game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad, with Axar making his 100th appearance for DC. Prior to him, the only player to have crossed the century of IPL outings for the franchise was Rishabh Pant, who did so when the side was known as Delhi Daredevils.

- In the contest in Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to field first.
- Sunrisers Hyderabad entered the match riding home momentum, having won two consecutive games at their venue.
- Delhi, meanwhile, were buoyed by a recent, thrilling victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru and looked to build on that confidence.
- After the toss, Axar said that the plan was to bowl first and noted that the toss fortune had gone their way, adding that a win would make the night even more special. He also remarked that he had never expected to play 100 IPL matches for DC and discussed the need to finalise a balanced XI depending on conditions.
- Axar also confirmed one alteration to the starting group: Nitish Rana came in for Auqib Nabi.
- SRH skipper Ishan Kishan, speaking at the toss, suggested that the pitch would not behave like a typical wicket and outlined their own tweaks. Dilshan Madushanka was included, while Harsh Dubey returned to the lineup, with the captain emphasising execution of their match plans and taking things one game at a time.
