CSK Update: Khaleel Ahmed Successfully Recovers After Quadriceps Surgery in IPL 2026

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have confirmed that fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed has successfully undergone surgery after picking up a quadriceps problem earlier in the IPL 2026 season. The franchise shared the update on Saturday, following the injury Khaleel sustained in CSK’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Chepauk on April 16.

  2. On Saturday, CSK confirmed via an X post that Khaleel has undergone successful surgery.
  3. CSK wished him strength and a quick recovery, adding that he has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 due to the right quadriceps injury.
  4. The franchise stated the injury would require more than 12 weeks to heal.

CSK’s official note also reflected the expectation that the rehabilitation period will keep the pacer on the sidelines for the season. The team reiterated its message of support, hoping for an early return to fitness.

Khaleel’s IPL 2026 and prior form

Across the five IPL 2026 matches he has played so far, Khaleel has taken two wickets. His bowling numbers include an average of 73.00 and an economy rate of 8.67, with his best figures reading 1/24.

In the previous IPL campaign with CSK, Khaleel finished with 15 wickets from 14 appearances. He averaged 29.80, produced best bowling of 3/29, and maintained an economy rate of 9.57.

Looking at his overall IPL career, having represented Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Delhi Capitals (DC) and CSK, Khaleel has claimed 91 wickets. His career average stands at 27.18, with best figures of 3/21 and an economy rate of 8.95.
