DC 75 vs RCB: Purple Cap leaders change as Orange Cap list shifts again

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowled Delhi Capitals (DC) out for 75 in their IPL 2026 match on Monday, delivering a dominant display with the ball. The lopsided result also triggered fresh movement in the season award charts, with a new name taking charge of the Purple Cap race. The Orange Cap picture shifted too, even though the overall total in the game was only 152 runs.

Purple Cap

Bhuvneshwar Kumar produced a devastating spell of 3-0-5-3 against DC, claiming all three wickets during the powerplay. RCB then completed the chase with ease, winning by nine wickets and with 81 balls remaining, and that strong outing propelled Bhuvneshwar to the top of the Purple Cap standings. He now has 14 wickets, matching the tally of Anshul Kamboj and Eshan Malinga, but his economy and consistency reflected in an average of 16.85—allowing him to edge past Kamboj (16.92) and Malinga (18.21).

RCB’s left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya picked up a wicket versus DC to move into the top ten on the wicket-takers list. He has nine wickets, level with Kartik Tyagi, Jamie Overton, and Vaibhav Arora, though his average of 26.55 is better than the group around him.

Josh Hazlewood also struck early, taking three wickets in the powerplay to drag DC down to a record IPL low of 13 for 6 in that phase. He added another breakthrough later in the innings and finished with 3.3-0-12-4, bringing his wicket total to eight. Hazlewood is currently positioned just below Arora at 14th place.

Orange Cap

Virat Kohli reached the 9,000-run milestone in the IPL while making 23 not out during RCB’s chase of 76 in Delhi. His knock helped him climb to fourth place in the Orange Cap standings, where he now sits with 351 runs at an average of 58.50. Kohli remains six runs behind Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and Sooryavanshi is a single run shy of KL Rahul. During the match, the DC opener managed 1 run against RCB, but it was enough to overtake Sooryavanshi and jump to second position with 358 runs at 51.14.

The Orange Cap race is still led by SRH opener Abhishek Sharma, who has 380 runs at an average of 54.28.
