PCB has named Fatima Sana as Pakistan’s captain for an upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, with the tour set to begin on May 4. The white-ball assignment also serves as preparation for the ICC Women’s Championship cycle from 2025 to 2029 and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in June.
Alongside Sana’s leadership, Momina Riasat has earned her first-ever ODI call-up for the series. The squad announcement sets the tone for Pakistan’s comeback after a recent white-ball tour defeat to South Africa, where Pakistan lost both the ODI and T20I contests 2-1.
Pakistan’s context and Zimbabwe tour
- Fatima Sana will captain Pakistan for a three-match ODI series vs Zimbabwe starting May 4
- Momina Riasat receives her maiden ODI selection
- The ODIs are part of build-up for the ICC Women’s Championship 2025–2029 and the Women’s T20 World Cup in June
- Pakistan are fifth in the ICC Women’s Championship standings with two points
- Zimbabwe will tour Pakistan for the first time for a white-ball series
- Zimbabwe arrive in Karachi on April 29 and train at the National Bank Stadium from April 30 to May 3
Pakistan currently sit fifth in the ICC Women’s Championship standings with two points, after winning an ODI series against South Africa earlier in the year. With that in mind, this Zimbabwe series becomes an important opportunity to rebuild momentum in the run-up to major global tournaments.
Zimbabwe, meanwhile, are scheduled to make their first ever visit to Pakistan for a white-ball series. The touring party will land in Karachi on April 29, then switch to a full training block at the National Bank Stadium from April 30 through May 3.
Venue and match dates
The remainder of the tour will be played entirely at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. After the ODI series, a three-match T20I run follows, starting May 12.
The second and third ODIs are set for May 6 and May 9. The T20I fixtures then come on May 12, May 14 and May 15, completing the six-game white-ball calendar.
