ICC Names Dr Ros Rivaz as Independent Director for Three-Year Term

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Dr Ros Rivaz as an Independent Director for a three-year term, with the option to extend her appointment by an additional three years. Dr Rivaz currently leads Anglian Water as Chair and also serves in an independent capacity at UK Companies House. In addition, she holds independent director roles at Aperam SA and Victrex plc.

In its statement, the ICC highlighted Dr Rivaz’s record of hands-on board involvement, noting that she has undertaken site visits and engaged with stakeholders across government, corporate, and community settings throughout her career. It also pointed to her experience in governance, corporate planning, and operational effectiveness, adding that her focus on diversity and inclusion further strengthens her candidacy for the ICC Board.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah welcomed the appointment, saying Dr Rivaz’s experience in international leadership and her depth of governance knowledge would be a real asset. He added that as cricket keeps widening its global presence and pursuing new opportunities both on and off the field, her strategic judgement, independent outlook, and commitment to solid governance would matter greatly. Shah said the ICC is looking forward to benefiting from her guidance as it works to reinforce the game’s foundations and support long-term growth worldwide.

Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Dr Rivaz has also been active in community and education-focused initiatives. She has backed programmes designed to encourage young women to take up STEM education and has contributed to a range of charitable efforts and local community projects.

After the announcement, Dr Rivaz described the role as a privilege, saying she is joining the ICC Board at an exciting moment for the sport. She expressed her eagerness to work alongside the ICC Chairman, fellow board members, and the wider cricket community to help drive the game’s continued development. Dr Rivaz also stressed that strong governance, long-term thinking, and an inclusive approach to decision-making will be central to ensuring cricket continues to thrive and open doors for future generations across the world.
