Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s dismissal turned into one of the talking points of IPL 2026 as Kolkata Knight Riders’ mounting problems against Lucknow Super Giants took a fresh hit. The incident arrived when KKR were already struggling, and it quickly shifted the momentum further in LSG’s favour.
Raghuvanshi walked in during a shaky phase, looking to stabilise the innings, but his time at the crease ended in an unusual manner. He was adjudged out for obstructing the field, a call that sparked immediate debate because the dismissal happened as a run attempt was unfolding rather than from a clear contact or catch.
The key moment came off Prince Yadav’s delivery. Raghuvanshi nudged the ball towards mid-on and set off for a quick single. However, he was sent back midway through the attempt. As he tried to regain his ground, he dived, and when the throw came in, the ball struck him during the process. That contact prompted an appeal from Mohammed Shami, and after a review, the third umpire concluded that Raghuvanshi had altered his running path—leading to the decision to dismiss him.
Reactions inside the KKR camp were far from calm. In the dugout, there was visible disbelief, while Raghuvanshi responded with clear frustration—slamming his bat and throwing his helmet as he made his way back to the pavilion. The manner of the wicket ensured the debate would continue well after the moment passed.
It also stood out statistically. Dismissals in IPL history involving obstructing the field were rare, and this was only the fourth instance in the league’s record. The other occasions listed were: Yusuf Pathan (KKR) vs PWI in Ranchi, 2013 (72 for 44); Amit Mishra (DD) vs SRH in Vizag, 2019 (1 for 2); Ravindra Jadeja (CSK) vs RR in Chennai, 2024 (6 for 8); and now Angkrish Raghuvanshi (KKR) vs LSG in Lucknow, 2026.
The timing made the wicket even more significant. KKR were already four down after being sent in by Rishabh Pant, and losing Raghuvanshi at that stage only added pressure to their chase. The contest itself had started with both sides under strain—LSG had managed just two wins from seven matches, while KKR were yet to find consistency, with only one victory in the same number of games.
