Ishan Kishan once again underlined his special knack for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as Sunrisers Hyderabad steamrolled the defending champions in their IPL 2026 encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday. The left-handed batter delivered another emphatic performance, striking 79 off just 46 balls, and in the process extended a run that has made him a nightmare matchup for RCB over recent seasons.
In hitting that half-century, Kishan not only kept his momentum rolling, but also recorded his fourth straight fifty-plus score against Bengaluru in IPL history. The knock reinforced how consistently he has troubled RCB’s bowlers year after year, piling up runs against them across multiple campaigns. In the record books, only two names now sit alongside Kishan—or ahead of him—when it comes to the longest streak of consecutive fifty-plus scores versus RCB in the league’s history.
David Warner, during his peak years with Sunrisers Hyderabad, leads the chart with seven successive scores of fifty or more against RCB, achieved between 2014 and 2016. Kane Williamson, when he captained the side, also built a formidable stretch, registering four consecutive fifty-plus knocks against Bengaluru from 2016 to 2019. Kishan has now matched Williamson’s milestone as well, producing a similar run between 2024 and 2026.
Most consecutive 50+ scores vs RCB in IPL: 7 — David Warner (2014-16); 4 — Kane Williamson (2016-19); 4* — Ishan Kishan (2024-26).
Kishan’s fireworks didn’t come in isolation as SRH’s batting lineup delivered a full-scale assault. Abhishek Sharma struck 56, while Heinrich Klaasen added a brisk 51, ensuring Hyderabad’s innings never lost momentum and kept RCB under constant pressure from the first phase of the chase that never really had a chance to begin.
This match also marked only the third time in IPL history that three SRH batters managed to score fifty or more in the same innings. SRH previously achieved the feat against Punjab Kings in Mohali in 2017, and then again versus Mumbai Indians at Hyderabad in 2024. The latest instance against RCB further strengthened the picture of SRH’s batting depth and their aggressive intent throughout the season.
Most individual 50+ scores for SRH in an IPL innings: 3 vs PBKS, Mohali, 2017; 3 vs MI, Hyderabad, 2024; 3 vs RCB, Hyderabad, 2026*.
Klaasen, in particular, continued to look unstoppable in the middle order. The South African’s numbers at No.4 or lower have been extraordinary, with him now collecting 606 runs in IPL 2026 from those positions—an all-time high for any batter in a single IPL season batting at No.4 or lower. He has surpassed Rishabh Pant’s 579-run haul for Delhi Capitals in 2018, and moved ahead of other top run-getters such as Riyan Parag (573 for RR in 2024), Rohit Sharma (538 for MI in 2013), and Glenn Maxwell (513 for RCB in 2021).
Most runs while batting at No.4 or lower in an IPL season: 606* — Heinrich Klaasen (SRH, 2026); 579 — Rishabh Pant (DD, 2018); 573 — Riyan Parag (RR, 2024); 538 — Rohit Sharma (MI, 2013); 513 — Glenn Maxwell (RCB, 2021).
Klaasen also matched another significant IPL record. His fifty against RCB was his sixth score of fifty or more of the season while batting at No.4 or lower, equalling the all-time IPL mark previously set by Pant and Maxwell.
Most 50+ scores while batting at No.4 or lower in an IPL season: 6 — Rishabh Pant (DD, 2018); 6 — Glenn Maxwell (RCB, 2021); 6* — Heinrich Klaasen (SRH, 2026); 5 — AB de Villiers (RCB, 2020); 5 — Rajat Patidar (RCB, 2024).
With fifties from Abhishek, Klaasen and Kishan powering the innings, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a massive 255/4 in their 20 overs against RCB. Hyderabad’s batters struck 16 sixes in total, underlining once more the fearless brand of cricket they have been playing this season.
The innings also added to SRH’s ongoing dominance in the high-scoring department. It was the ninth time in IPL 2026 that Sunrisers Hyderabad have crossed the 200-run mark in an innings, the most by any team in a single IPL season. The previous best for such milestone was jointly shared by Gujarat Titans (2025), Punjab Kings (2025), and Punjab Kings again (2026), with each team achieving the feat eight times before SRH pulled ahead.
Most 200+ totals in an IPL season: 9* — Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2026; 8 — Gujarat Titans in 2025; 8 — Punjab Kings in 2025; 7 — Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2026.
