Jaiswal Soars to 100 IPL Sixes as RR Beat MI in Rain-Reduced Clash

Yashasvi Jaiswal struck a major IPL milestone as Rajasthan Royals powered to a 27-run victory over Mumbai Indians in a rain-affected game at Guwahati on Tuesday. The RR opener reached the landmark of 100 sixes in the league, steering his side to a commanding total in a match that was reduced to 11 overs per innings after a prolonged interruption at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

Jaiswal’s 100-sixer milestone powers RR

  1. Rajasthan were set to bat first in the shortened contest, with 11 overs allotted to each team.
  2. Jaiswal delivered a blistering unbeaten 77, his 17th IPL half-century, forming the backbone of RR’s innings of 150/3.
  3. His knock included 10 boundaries in fours and four maximums, helping him become the latest RR batter to join the elite 100-sixes club.
  4. With the win, Rajasthan recorded their third successive victory and moved to the top of the points table.

The 24-year-old also joined a select list of six-hitting Royals, becoming only the fourth player from the franchise to reach the 100 mark. He sits alongside Sanju Samson (192), Jos Buttler (135) and Shane Watson (109) in the RR register of players with 100-plus IPL sixes.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi adds late spark

While Jaiswal anchored the innings, 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi supplied the punch at the other end. The youngster smashed 39 off just 14 deliveries, showing fearless intent with two towering sixes off Jasprit Bumrah. His cameo reinforced the growing reputation he has been building in the tournament.

How Rajasthan set the tone

Jaiswal began aggressively, finding the boundary early and then smoothly adjusting his tempo as the overs progressed. Explaining his thought process, he said, “With only three overs of powerplay, I was thinking who I can take down and how I can maximise it. When I saw Chahar Bhai, I thought I could go after him. Then Bumrah Bhai came in, so I felt maybe Vaibhav can take him on while I pick others.”

The opener also highlighted the importance of preparation and flexibility between formats. “It’s not easy switching formats, but I try to prepare well and keep developing new shots. I just try to understand the situation and play for my team,” he added.

Mumbai lose momentum in the chase

  1. After RR posted 150/3 in their reduced overs, Mumbai began their chase but failed to build any meaningful momentum.
  2. Ryan Rickelton departed in the opening over, putting Mumbai on the back foot early.
  3. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav followed soon after, leaving Mumbai struggling for stability.
  4. Rajasthan then tightened the contest further as Ravi Bishnoi struck twice in an over, removing Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma.
  5. With those blows, the match effectively slipped out of Mumbai’s reach and Rajasthan closed out the win by 27 runs.

Jaiswal backs Vaibhav’s fearless style

After the win, Jaiswal also offered praise to his young opening partner. “The way Vaibhav is playing is tremendous. We keep talking about how to take bowlers on. I just tell him to play freely — khel bindaas,” he said with a smile.
