KKR Blow: Angkrish Raghuvanshi Ruled Out of IPL 2026 After Concussion

Kolkata Knight Riders have been dealt a blow ahead of the business end of IPL 2026, with wicketkeeper-batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi ruled out of the rest of the season. The franchise confirmed the batter has suffered a concussion along with a fracture to a finger on his left hand.

Quick facts

  • Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been ruled out for the remainder of IPL 2026 due to concussion and a left-hand finger fracture.
  • He sustained the injuries after colliding with teammate Varun Chakravarthy while trying to take a catch in KKR’s previous match versus Mumbai Indians.
  • KKR replaced him with substitute wicketkeeper Tejasvi Dahiya during the MI game.
  • Raghuvanshi is KKR’s leading run-scorer this season with 422 runs in 13 matches.
  • KKR’s next league match is against Delhi Capitals at Eden Gardens on Sunday.

Raghuvanshi picked up the injury during KKR’s match against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, when he and Varun Chakravarthy collided while attempting a catch. The incident happened in the 11th over of MI’s innings as Tilak Varma attempted a slog.

On the fifth delivery of the 11th over, Varma lofted an attempted big hit off Varun. Varun shifted to his left, tracking the ball, while Raghuvanshi sprinted in from the other direction. The two collided as the chance came in, and Varun ended up dropping the catch on impact, despite having initially appeared to secure it cleanly as he fell to the ground.

Raghuvanshi walked off the field four balls into the 14th over. Tejasvi Dahiya came on as his replacement behind the stumps.

Chase reshuffle and Dahiya’s cameo

When KKR went into their chase, they adjusted the batting order, bringing in Manish Pandey at No. 3 in place of Raghuvanshi, who was already out with concussion symptoms. Dahiya then took over the wicketkeeping role officially as the concussion substitute in the match.

Dahiya was promoted to bat at No. 7 when KKR needed 24 runs off 28 balls to chase 148. He struck 11 runs from 12 deliveries before his innings ended when Corbin Bosch dismissed him.

Despite the late setback, the campaign has seen Raghuvanshi deliver consistently for KKR. He has amassed 422 runs across 13 matches, making him the team’s top run-scorer for the season so far.

His output includes five half-centuries in 12 innings, and it also represents a second straight year in which he has reached the 300-run mark for KKR. With his absence now confirmed for the remaining fixtures, the team will need to manage both the batting depth and wicketkeeping coverage carefully.

KKR will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) at Eden Gardens on Sunday, with that match serving as the final league-stage fixture of the season for both sides. DC are already out of the playoff hunt, but KKR still have a pathway—provided they beat DC and also benefit from results elsewhere to secure a place in the top four.
