The timing made the moment even more noticeable: Urvil was already in the middle of an innings that would quickly become a talking point across the league.
For Chennai, Urvil’s impact began almost immediately. He struck the joint-fastest half-century in IPL history, moving to the milestone in only 13 deliveries and matching a record set by Yashasvi Jaiswal back in 2023. Once he found rhythm, the chase transformed. Urvil took charge during CSK’s pursuit of 204, and after Sanju Samson departed for 28, the momentum shifted fully in Chennai’s favour within minutes. He also etched his name into the record books by becoming the first batter in IPL history to clear the ropes six times within the opening eight balls of an innings. From there, the innings only escalated—he raced to 41 not out off just eight balls, setting a new IPL benchmark for the highest score after the first eight deliveries of an innings.
Urvil kept going at full throttle, eventually finishing with 65 from 23 balls. His knock included eight sixes and two fours before his stay ended when he was dismissed by Shahbaz Ahmed. Even with Urvil’s brilliance drawing all the spotlight, Chennai still had to complete the chase after Lucknow managed a late fightback.
