PBKS vs DC IPL 2026: Unbeaten Kings Face Inconsistent Delhi at Arun Jaitley

Punjab Kings head into their Saturday clash against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as the lone unbeaten side in IPL 2026. Delhi, meanwhile, are carrying a season that has swung between promise and inconsistency, and they will be desperate to steady their campaign against a team that has looked hard to stop.

Delhi began their IPL 2026 journey with back-to-back victories, but the momentum slipped quickly. They have lost three of their last four games, with their sole win during that stretch coming in Bengaluru.

The batting order has been a recurring concern for DC. Pathum Nissanka has shown patchy form, while KL Rahul has not yet found his rhythm at his best level. On top of that, the franchise have shuffled the No. 3 slot with three different batters, and the group’s collective average from that position has landed at 14.66.

Nitish Rana, who struck a fifty in the most recent match, has found himself dropped as well. Sameer Rizvi, despite earning back-to-back “Player of the Match” awards, has been unable to turn that early impact into a sustained run of performances, while captain Axar Patel has struggled with the bat.

Bowling and spin questions for DC

Delhi have not appeared to miss Mitchell Starc in the way many might have expected, with Lungi Ngidi driving the bowling attack. However, the spin unit has been a weak spot this season, leaving DC exposed when matches call for control and wicket-taking through the middle overs.

In Delhi at least, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar have combined for only 10 wickets in seven games since the start of IPL 2025—an area that will be closely watched as PBKS attempt to keep their momentum.

Speaking before the game, Tristan Stubbs addressed Delhi’s batting problems and the perception around them. He said, “It has seemed worse because we’ve been chasing every game. The other day, we lost three wickets in an over, and we pretty much didn’t bat very well, but we still made 190 something. Yes, we haven’t had that perfect innings, but on a bad day we’ve still won three out of six. Even when we’ve lost, we’ve still scored 190. We know there’s been a couple of small moments here and there in the games, but we are scoring big scores, so we’re not too worried. Everyone’s really positive, and everyone’s batting well, so that’s quite exciting.”

That outlook reflects Delhi’s internal belief that, even in difficult phases, they are still posting substantial totals. The challenge will be whether those scores can stand up to an opposition that has been thriving in every facet of the tournament.

PBKS: dominant with bat, pressure built

Punjab Kings, in contrast, have produced an emphatically dominant season. Their batting unit has been firing consistently, including the ability to chase down targets of 200-plus, which has become a defining feature of their campaign.

PBKS have also set the highest total of the season and have gone on to defend it, underlining both their ceiling and their control. With Arshdeep Singh returning to form, their bowling options add another layer of confidence, making this a stern test for Delhi at home.
