That blistering display lifted him to 41 sixes in IPL 2026, taking him to the top as the captain with the most sixes in a single T20 tournament. The landmark he reached had previously been held by Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag, who struck 40 maximums as captain for Assam in the 2023–24 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
In IPL history specifically, the bar for a captain’s most sixes in one season had been set by Shreyas Iyer. Iyer had produced 39 sixes for Punjab Kings during IPL 2025, and Patidar’s effort against Gujarat Titans surpassed that standard as his nine-hitting spree moved him into an elite company. With those sixes, Patidar climbed past Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and Ishan Kishan on the list, underlining how quickly his 2026 campaign has turned into a standout run of power-hitting.
