Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl against Lucknow Super Giants in a Wankhede Stadium clash that pairs No. 9 with No. 10 in the standings. Suryakumar Yadav led the decision for MI after winning the toss.
Hardik Pandya was ruled out because of back spasms, while Rohit Sharma returned to the XI. Rohit missed the previous five matches for Mumbai due to a hamstring issue, and he is expected to feature as the Impact Player during the chase.
Quick facts
- Toss: Mumbai Indians chose to bowl vs Lucknow Super Giants.
- Venue: Wankhede Stadium.
- MI change: Hardik Pandya out with back spasms; Rohit Sharma returns after a hamstring layoff.

MI also shuffled their side significantly in Hardik’s absence. Raj Angad Bawa arrived for his first appearance of the season, while Robin Minz and Trent Boult were left out. Corbin Bosch came into the XI, and Rohit’s role is set as the Impact Player when Mumbai bat second.
LSG’s line-up shake-up
Lucknow made their own alterations as well. Australia batter Josh Inglis, signed for INR 8.6 crore, was brought in directly from travel and marked his debut for the franchise. Alongside him, uncapped finisher Mukul Choudhary made way for the exciting Madhya Pradesh batter Akshat Raghuwanshi.
Rishabh Pant said Lucknow will confirm their Impact Player later. He also spoke about the group’s recent stretch, describing a week-long break filled with “reflections” and acknowledging the tough nature of the season so far.
Pant added that there is “no running away” from the struggles, and highlighted how the most difficult part has been disappointing the fans. He pointed to the pressure on the team’s owner, Mr. Goenka, and said the intent of the break is to deliver a stronger response—“200%” effort—to restore joy for the supporters and for the owner.
