Sanju Samson smashes IPL ton vs MI at Wankhede, CSK’s only batter to hit 5

Chennai Super Kings batter Sanju Samson produced his fifth century in the Indian Premier League on Thursday during CSK’s IPL 2026 encounter against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Samson reached three figures off the final delivery of the innings, finishing with a boundary off Krish Bhagat’s bowling. The knock marked his second hundred of the season, his second for Chennai, and the fifth century of his IPL career. It also became the first individual century by a CSK batter against Mumbai Indians in IPL history. With the feat, Samson moved level with Rohit Sharma at number two in the list of most T20 hundreds among Indian players.

Samson’s unbeaten 101 steered Chennai Super Kings to 207/6 against Mumbai Indians in a meeting between the two five-time champions. The CSK opener and wicket-keeper batter remained at the crease throughout, anchoring the innings as wickets tumbled at the other end. His innings came from 54 balls and featured 10 fours and six sixes, with the century serving as his second three-figure score since joining his new franchise, CSK.

For Mumbai Indians, AM Ghazanfar and Ashwani Kumar each took two wickets. Jasprit Bumrah meanwhile was controlled in his spell, returning figures of 1/31.
