SRH Rope in RS Ambrish to Replace Injured Shivam Mavi for IPL 2026

Sunrisers Hyderabad have made a swift squad adjustment for the rest of IPL 2026, bringing in 18-year-old RS Ambrish as a replacement for the injured Shivam Mavi. Mavi, who had been purchased by SRH for his base price of INR 75 lakh at the latest auction, is set to miss the remainder of the tournament after a groin injury ruled him out.

Ambrish, a right-arm medium-pace bowler who also bats left-handed, has earned his opportunity after an impressive run on the junior international stage. He was part of India’s victorious Under-19 World Cup squad in 2026 and finished as the joint-leading wicket-taker of the competition, taking 11 wickets.

The Tamil Nadu-born cricketer, born in 2007, arrives into a bowling group that is already packed with young talent. SRH have leaned on emerging options this season, including Praful Hinge (24) and Sakib Hussain (21), both of whom have stepped up smoothly with the ball.

On the points table, Hyderabad sit third with 12 points. Their momentum has been particularly strong, with five consecutive wins pushing them up the standings. Next up, SRH will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at their home ground in Hyderabad on Sunday, May 3.
