SRH vs LSG IPL 2026: Hyderabad seek momentum after KKR win

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be aiming to turn pressure into momentum on Sunday when they take on Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2026 match in Hyderabad. SRH began the campaign with a disappointing loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their opening fixture, but responded in style in their second outing by registering their first victory of the season—defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs.

Lucknow, meanwhile, also enter the contest with a setback in their first game. LSG were beaten by Delhi Capitals by six wickets in their opener, and this will be their second match of the season. With both sides still searching for consistency after their early results, the contest is set up as a chance to build momentum in Hyderabad.

LSG’s defeat to DC also highlighted a few questionable calls during the game, and their batting lineup looked notably altered, with captain Rishabh Pant promoted to the top of the order. The decision to use Pant as an opener disturbed LSG’s usual rhythm, and it didn’t appear to bring the intended impact. After early wickets fell, the middle order struggled to stabilise the innings, leaving LSG chasing an uphill task.

Ahead of the clash, LSG bowling coach Bharat Arun shared his thoughts on the dynamics of T20 cricket. He said, “T20 is always batter friendly. Batters are expected to play big shots and that’s what the crowd comes for. But personally, I find bowlers have an opportunity to come good and become heroes. A bowler has to trust his abilities in order to do well.”

For SRH supporters, there is also encouraging news around Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has started contributing with the ball this season as well. Reddy took wickets against KKR at Eden Gardens and was named Player of the Match for his efforts. SRH head coach Daniel Vettori praised the all-rounder’s recent form, saying, “Two massive wickets, and he’s just got a real confidence in himself now. He’s a professional, and he prepares for every situation required, whether it’s the bat and the ball, and we saw the best of him in the last game and how important he is to us.”
