Tim David’s 70* off 25 Stuns Fans as RCB Crush CSK at Chinnaswamy

Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Tim David produced an electric display against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, leaving the crowd stunned. Chasing a big score, RCB batted first and piled up 250/3 in their 20 overs, with David serving as the key driver of the chase-free total. The Australian stayed unbeaten on 70 from only 25 deliveries, striking three fours and clearing the ropes eight times. With that commanding innings setting the tone, Bengaluru restricted CSK to 207 and won by 43 runs—marking their second successive victory of the campaign.

After the match, David was pictured in the dressing room alongside his teammates, where all-rounder Romario Shepherd offered his own lively take on the Australian’s knock.

In a clip that has since circulated widely online, Shepherd light-heartedly remarked that “we all know that you take your first five balls and then you just… you know, go,” while mimicking the rhythm of David’s start before bursting into a playful gesture. The West Indies star’s playful delivery sparked laughter throughout the dressing room.

Even Virat Kohli—himself a seasoned match-winner—couldn’t contain his amusement and was seen laughing along with the group in response to Shepherd’s comment, adding another memorable moment from the celebrations.

David’s rapid 25-ball assault powered Bengaluru to 250-3, the highest team score of the season so far. The hosts laid the foundation after winning the toss and batting first at the same venue.

On the bowling front, Bengaluru wrapped up the contest by dismissing Chennai for 207 in 19.4 overs, handing the five-time IPL champions a third setback in as many league matches.

Seam bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the standout with three wickets for RCB, while Jacob Duffy, Abhinandan Singh and Krunal Pandya each took two apiece.

With the win, Bengaluru sit at the top of the 10-team IPL points table on the strength of a superior run rate compared to Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. Notably, all four of those sides—and Bengaluru as well—have collected victories in their first two fixtures.

Bengaluru, who clinched their first IPL title in 18 attempts last year, built their innings with strong momentum after Virat Kohli struck 28 off 18 balls. From there, the rest of the batting sustained the tempo and then accelerated as the innings progressed.
