Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made IPL history by surpassing the mark for the most sixes struck by an Indian batter in a single season. In the IPL 2026 clash against Delhi Capitals, Sooryavanshi struck three maximums, taking him beyond Abhishek Sharma’s previous season total of 42 sixes. The teenager now boasts 43 sixes from 12 matches in IPL 2026, while Abhishek finished his 2024 campaign with 42 sixes in 16 games. Looking at the next-best mark among Indians, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer sits third with 39 sixes from 17 matches in the 2025 season. The all-time record, however, still belongs to West Indies great Chris Gayle, who smashed an incredible 59 sixes in 15 matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the 2012 season.
