Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Urgent BCCI Plea After India A Call-Up Set for Next Month

Noise around Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s rapid rise into India’s senior men’s setup is getting louder by the day. Only about a year after his IPL debut, the 15-year-old has already sparked a strong belief in cricket circles that he belongs at the very top. That belief could turn into a real opportunity sooner than many expect, with the teenager scheduled to turn out for India A next month. The Tilak Varma-led group is set to travel to Sri Lanka for a tri-series, offering Sooryavanshi a clear pathway to test himself against quality opposition away from the franchise spotlight. In the current IPL season, he has piled up close to 600 runs, registering 583 in total, a haul that has naturally accelerated conversations about his readiness for bigger stages.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal added to the momentum when asked what comes next for the teenager. Dhumal described Sooryavanshi as a “special talent” and stressed that steady support from both the BCCI and his franchise could make the difference as he develops. The IPL administrator pointed out that nurturing a young player is not only about technical refinement, but also about protecting the right mindset as the pressure rises. “I feel the BCCI and the franchise would need to handhold him in terms of showing him the right way so that his temperament stays intact. Because sport is not only about physical skill, it is also about mental toughness,” Dhumal said, ahead of the IPL Eliminator featuring RR and SRH. He also made it clear that the long-term goal is for the youngster’s current skill to translate into sustained international impact. “And definitely, we will do our bit to make sure that the kind of skill set he has allows him to perform for India for many, many years to come,” he added.

Of course, the road for any emerging cricketer rarely runs smoothly, and Sooryavanshi will likely experience his share of peaks and setbacks. Still, the direction of his career will hinge on how he responds when challenges arrive—how he adjusts, learns, and keeps his game moving forward under scrutiny. For the moment, though, the immediate demands sit squarely on his young shoulders. Sooryavanshi and RR are chasing a place in the IPL final, along with the chance to topple the side that currently carries the burden of being the titleholder—RCB, led by Virat Kohli in the context of the current campaign narrative.

Before dreaming about the championship match, RR must first get past the danger posed by SRH in the Eliminator. SRH arrive with an explosive batting lineup, and the contest will test whether Sooryavanshi can rise to the occasion and help his team navigate the kind of rhythm shifts that decide knockout games in T20 cricket. If RR manage to clear that first hurdle, the reward is a virtual semi-final scenario in Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans. The stakes are high because there’s also a historical challenge hanging in the air: no team has ever lifted the IPL trophy from fourth place in the playoff era. RR, therefore, will need their teenage prodigy to deliver at the highest level, repeatedly and decisively, if they are to rewrite that record and keep their campaign alive.
