Even with Gujarat Titans falling to Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, captain Shubman Gill still found a way to make the season about milestones. In the chase, Gill delivered a decisive innings of 85 off 49 balls, striking at 173.47 with five fours and seven sixes, and the knock added another chapter to his growing legacy as a leader.<\/p>\n

Gill\u2019s captaincy milestone and standout season numbers<\/h2>\n

  1. Gill\u2019s 85-run effort came in Gujarat\u2019s chase against his former team, Kolkata Knight Riders.<\/li>\n
  2. That innings helped him join an elite club of captains who have produced multiple IPL seasons with 500-plus runs, alongside the likes of David Warner, Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.<\/li>\n
  3. This season, Gill has amassed 552 runs across 12 matches, posting an average of 46.00 and a strike rate of 160.46, including five half-centuries.<\/li>\n
  4. He currently sits just behind Gujarat\u2019s other key batter, Sai Sudharsan, who leads the franchise run charts with 554 runs.<\/li>\n
  5. It is the second time Gill has reached the 500-run mark in an IPL campaign while captaining his franchise.<\/li>\n
  6. Last year, in his debut season as GT captain, Gill scored 650 runs in 15 innings at an average of 50.00 and a strike rate of 155.87, ending as the tournament\u2019s fourth-highest run-getter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Gill\u2019s captaincy consistency places him alongside the game\u2019s most productive leaders. Only Warner and KL Rahul have managed more seasons with 500-plus runs as captain. Warner produced three such years for Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 848 runs in 2016, 641 in 2017 and 692 in 2018. Rahul also delivered three consecutive 500-plus campaigns as captain, with 670 runs in 2020, 626 in 2021 and 616 in 2022 while leading Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.<\/p>\n

    With his current form, Gill also moves into the same conversation as captains who have posted multiple 500-plus seasons. Tendulkar and Kohli have each recorded two such captaincy seasons. Tendulkar achieved the feat for Mumbai Indians in 2010 and 2011, while Kohli\u2019s 2016 surge remains one of the most celebrated captaincy campaigns in IPL history\u2014after first crossing 557 runs in 2015, he went on to score 973 runs in 2016 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.<\/p>\n

    Beyond season totals, Gill\u2019s record against Kolkata Knight Riders underlines his comfort against the side he once represented.
