Wearing the Mumbai Indians colours again, he had swapped his Royals pink for the MI blue a few seasons earlier, after three years with Rajasthan. When the familiar questions about \u201cwelcome back\u201d and whether he knew how the conditions would play out started to come his way, the mood quickly turned lighter. Boult was asked a pointed, half-joking question that clearly carried an underlying truth: what did it feel like to be plotting the dismissal of a 14-year-old after so many years of success at the highest level. He smiled at the humour first, replying that it was \u201cactually funny,\u201d before shifting into the more practical mindset needed for dealing with a fearless teenager in form. He explained that he had faced elite batters around the world, naming players such as Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, and said the key was not to treat it like a case of worrying about age, but rather approaching the challenge with focus. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be an exciting challenge to come up against a guy who\u2019s obviously fearless and running in hot form at the moment. After Deepak Chahar was punished in the opening over for 22 runs, Bumrah got the first real crack at Suryavanshi. The youngster, in turn, got his first proper opportunity against what many would consider the sport\u2019s best.
